Green Tea Extract and Weight Loss

Green Tea contains catechins, which are compounds that are responsible for the thermogenic properties of Green Tea. Catechins work by interfering with the breakdown of norepinephrine, which is a neurotransmitter that helps regulate fat burning and metabolic rate in the body. One such catechin that is present in green tea extract is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which is the primary active ingredient.

Drinking green tea is a good idea, but the fat burning properties are not nearly as concentrated as they are in the extract.
